Summer Season Workshops & Events: Nurture Your Nature
Summer 2026 in the art house this year was all kinds of fun. We welcomed hundreds of visitors into our halls to see Shawnee Hill's Anthropocene, we introduced a bevy of new items to our Art House Shop, and made more community art than ever before - and we're just getting started.

In the Moon Garden: Workshop Series and Moon garden Party

Workshop series hosted by visiting artist and author June Gervais, Hayden Welch, and Hinterland staff
This week of events saw a beautiful blooming (a night blooming, of course) of artistic practice, "devotion over discipline," and supportive community. Our evening workshops welcomed full time working artists and those joining after 9-5's to explore collage, paint, poetry, and even some live music. At the end of it all, we celebrated together at a moon garden party with delicious eats and a DIY floral bar! This week got us even more excited for the workshops ahead in the fall season and beyond.
Anthropocene - A Gallery Show from Shawnee Hill

We've been thrilled to welcome Shawnee back to the gallery with Anthropocene. Since it's Opening May 1, this show positions the artist as nature, being changed by the all human activity churning around us. Pieces shown try to process the last few years and consider them as a sort of personal geological epoch. Thank you for joining us for this spring's gallery season.

It's a yard sale! It's a party! It's a beautiful gallery exhibition, and maybe even some live music around 1pm. Spend some of your solstice weekend at Hinterland to check our multi-family secondhand sale (seriously, some of our moms are coming).
If you haven't yet seen our beautiful front room transformed into our Art House studio & event space, this is your chance to see how much we've grown in 2025. Part vintage bazaar, the Hinterland team will be downsizing supplies from studio & home alike! Two days, hot dogs on a grill, a SPECIAL HOT DOG THEMED POP UP ARTIST and shiny new additions to our retail selection.
Nurture Your Nature: Celebrating 100 Years of Sir David Attenborough
We're a bunch of nature nerds in the Art House. A documentary can often be found on in the background (or right up front) of any team hang, most often with the dulcet tones of Sir David. All Spring long, we've been celebrating with special events, nature themed art and writing on our Patreon (including blog posts at our Free membership tier!), and tiny tattoo weekends.
Our David Day open studio get together on May 31 was super cozy, with friends coming in and out all day, visiting for a couple hours of crafting with supplies from their own bags or our supplybrary.
Nurture Your Nature: Tiny Tattoos May 30-31
One of our special events in honor of our Patron Saint David will be a special Tiny Tattoo event! Hayden and Shawnee will be sharing new tiny flash sheets for all our botanical bbys out there. Saturday May 30 will be tiny tattoos only, while Sunday the 31st will feature open studio, nature docs on the big screen, and probably a cute little snacky or two.
